roller rockers erkins balancer blah blah i will update soon..

Latest Stuff I have done or are doing to my motor..
New Harmonic Balancer or shoudl I say Fluid Damper..

I recently ( August 2005 ) purchased new old stock fluid damper for a perkins pink 6354 motor.
Steve Elliott turns up these hubs to suit the Hemi and almost all group NC racers use these.

They are supposed to be the ducks nuts ( better then romac ) although more expensive.

Hub and Puller

Here is the balancer..

OUT WITH THE OLD

Here is the old 265S and 904 and a little mess caused by me forgetting to drain the auto fluid DOH ! After motor was out we drank this

Kim Installed DEC-2002 ( 245Hemi BW45 from Brown Val AKA KIM )

Due to the old 265S having stuffed rings and my lack of money I purchased a entire car for next to nothing with a good motor and gearbox. I have installed this 245 auto with BW35 as a test bed for geting everything perfect before i build a new motor. The car was on LPG and the head was done so i can run it on unleaded which is a bonus.. It had bad lifter noise so I changed they on the weekend but there is some timing chain noise chatter that I want to fix so the next job is to install a new chain. I guess the old chain it so slack this may also account for the timing wandering over the place when i rev it with my fixed timing ELB dizzy. /because I have been having so much problems with stable timing corss fire etc in the EFI / Ignition section I think installing a new timing chain all round is a god idea and not very expensive.. I don't know if they break eventually but I would rather not find out the hard way as I want this motor to last until at least i build my new motor if not longer..

October 2003 New Timing Chain installed

I got a new rollmaster timing chain from VPWmailorder anti end float timing cover from Hemi Performance the balancer was a bitch to get off with the al cheapo balancer puller from autobarn so i got a ( its not a toy ) puller from Hemi Performance ( HP ) its a pisser well worth its money it looks like a chrysler copy just get one you won't regret it. The reverse installing the balancer i did via the ( stop your balancer from falling off ) bolt and washer also from HP this machines washer if you could call it that worked very well another good investment.. The old motor didn't have the chain oiler or tentioner thingie some wally didn't bother installing it on the motor b4 i got it.. most likely why the chain stretched so much.. luck i had another motor and stole the parts off that one.. I havn't installed the radiator or fan but started it up dry just to see how it went.. It started instantly very very easily. I was surprised how quickly it started compared to before..the only problem i can see i may have is the started gives a small shark kkkkkkkkkkkkrttt noise as the engines starts much like if you keep cranking after the motor has already started.. I can start it without noise if i very quickly take my hand off the key once it starts. i got to be quick though ???? this is one i would like to investigate don't wanna stuff the ring gear or starter.. ??

Febuary 2004 or about 2 weeks after bendigo swap 350 Holley Installed

Well it was EFI on theold motor but its back to carby while I do some other tests. So I knew there was some more go in the motor compared to the stock 2bbl carty carby so I found a 350cfm holley at the swap meet for $80. One bottle of carty clean and one gasket rebuild kit later and everything seemed fine.. Well not so easy...... The bloody thing was rich as $#% even if i leaned it out completley it was still rich and to top it all off as soon as you tried to take off it gave a lean missfire.. Well the powervalve eas the fault of the rich at idle and the accelerator pump cam was installed upside down ( not me ) that's how i got it from swap meet.. now it seems all well apart fro a few fine tuning..

Installed Extractors..

I got myself a set of brand new hurricane extractors from a speed shop ( last one left as they don't sell them anymore ) for i think only $190 not bad looking things here is a pic ( pics to come with them installed on the car )

I needed a new exhaust but decided to goto my local self serve wreckers in melbourne ( pick pay and go ) found a didge ute with hemi 6 extractors and 1 and 1/2 in exhaust.. I managed to get the entire exhaust off the car ( after the extractors ) for only $22.50 so i thought this was a good starting point for my nex exhaust.. it was eityher that or no exhaust at all..

I got the end of the extractors cut off and a bolt on exhaust flange welded up by my local midas store along with this I got another matching bolt up flange welded to a short piece of ( slightly smaller then 2 and 1/2 inch exhaust so i could slide my bodgy ( almost new $22.50 wreckers exhaust ) onto the end..

Note: when installing to a charger.. they are shorter !! Yes i know but i just cut about 6 inches out of the middle and joined it by putting another smaller piece of exhaust in the middle. I will be getting a nex exhaut but it was a test for the noise of a 1 and 1/2 exhaust as i was thinging anothe the lines of going twin 2 inch or something.. time will tell sofar its a little loud because there was only a turbo muffler and no resolator. I got a resonator yet to install..

Problem One : Exhaust gas leak at the head Fart fart fart !!!!!

I havn't installed a exhaust/inlet manifold for some time now so I just installed the system with a NOS ( new old stock ) exhaust gasket I had purchased some years ago it had the part number THORNTON JA961 as it turned out many companies manufacturer the same part using this part number but beware they are not all the same as it turns out i ended up using 2 gasket and some gasket goo.. the best gaket i have found is the ACL brand one from repco.. the permaseal and other are very thin and cause leaks.. see pic..

GUESS WHICK ONE OS THE THIN ONE !!!

Here is a thread on the moparmarket forum thanks guys lots of good feedback here.

Well its all good no now leaks..
